Jim Knight
Founding Partner
Since graduating from Vanderbilt University with a dual degree in economics and engineering science in 1988, and then University of Georgia with a dual degree in real estate and corporate finance in 1993, Jim Knight has spent time at many of the Southeast’s most revered real estate development companies. These include The Massie Knight Group, Priske-Jones Southeast, McCar Homes, Grubb & Ellis Company, and more. For more than two decades, he has been a fixture in the region, creating beautiful communities and turning record-breaking profits. Most recently, he was Managing Director of Investments at Cortland, where he spent 11 years creating and executing business plans for a variety of multifamily rental assets. Jim believes that record profits can and should go hand in hand with creating living environments that provide genuine value to their inhabitants. Praised by colleagues for his astute judgment, dedication, and persistence, he is one of those rare professionals who possesses not only the niche know-how of extensive education and ample experience, but also an uncompromising work ethic.
Jim lives in Atlanta, Georgia, with his wife and son. His daughter is enrolled at Clemson University. In his spare time, he loves to exercise and play golf.
Pratt Provosty
President
Upon graduating from Vanderbilt University with a bachelor of arts degree in economics in 1987, Pratt Provosty began his career as a commercial real estate broker in Nashville, Tennessee, specializing in tenant and landlord representation for office and retail properties. He then went to work for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co., where he managed 3.5 million square feet of office, retail, and industrial, 2,500 multifamily units, hotels, golf courses, and single-family rental developments. In his next role, within the income mortgage production department, Pratt worked on over $100 million in income-producing real estate transactions before leaving MetLife in 1995. After leaving MetLife, Pratt moved back to his home town of New Orleans and went to work for Standard Mortgage Corporation, an income mortgage banking firm, where he originated Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and conduit loans. Three years later, he co-founded PPQ Development. That partnership lasted until 2017 and resulted in the completion of over 10 transactions totaling more than 1,500 apartment units, translating into over $200 million in today’s dollars. Pratt has since been involved in the development of more than 600 ground-up single-family and multifamily rentals valued at over $160 million throughout Alabama, Arizona, Georgia, and Utah.
Pratt spends his time outside of work with his wife and two boys, orplaying tennis, playing drums, hunting, and fishing.
David Stith
Director of Design and Construction
After graduating from University of Georgia with a degree in landscape architecture, David Stith began pursuing his longtime passion at Post Properties. There, he oversaw many endeavors that put the company on the leading edge of the apartment design world. David was a part of the team that formed the initial landscaping department at Post and was instrumental in creating the landscape-centric strategy of the innovative, trailblazing multifamily developer. Two years later, he became a partner at HGA and in 1997, he founded Stith and Company Inc. Through his namesake firm, he provided land planning, landscape design, landscape maintenance, civil engineering and design-build services in 10 states, designing more than 150,000 units for leading developers, including Wood Partners, Columbia Residential, Norsouth Constructs, Homecorp, Oxford Properties, Cortland, and many others. David has also acquired and restored numerous homes and buildings throughout Atlanta and has years of experience leading teams in the construction field. David brings his creative and managerial talents to lead River North’s design and construction.
David and his wife, Chelsea, live in Marietta, Georgia, and have three children: David Alan, Naomi, and Jeffrey.
Tillman Douglas
Director of Marketing and Investor Relations
With a degree in marketing from University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business and decades of experience in the field, Tillman Douglas is a marketing and advertising veteran. Through a combination of creativity, strategy, and results-oriented thinking, he has successfully bolstered the efforts and sales of more than 21 major real estate ventures. These include six master-planned, single-family neighborhood developments, 11 multifamily properties, multiple commercial buildings, and resort, government, civic, and hospitality real estate brands. Tillman has also marketed various architectural, engineering, construction, and design firms. His experience in investor relations includes four years as a licensed financial advisor (Series 7 and 63) and, separately, raising private equity for start-up companies and also for a variety of real estate ventures. In addition, Tillman is a licensed real estate agent (Ga. Lic. #336903). He is a student of the “Experience Economy” (Harvard University, B. Joseph Pine II and James H. Gilmore), which conceptualizes the idea of selling memorable experiences to consumers—maximizing value for developers and consumers alike.
Tillman enjoys time with his wife and two sons and two daughters in Atlanta and plays golf, fitness, and sports with the boys.
